Letter to My Love

There are so many things I wish to tell you but I'm worried that I won't be able to find the words, that I won't be able to string them together like I used to. 

I want to start by saying I'm so sorry.  I had wanted to be everything you thought I was.  I wanted to be so much better for you. I can't ever explain how much it breaks me that I couldn't. 

I love you.  I loved you from the moment our eyes met and I will keep loving you until I'm long gone from this world. Even if we are not together, my heart will still be yours, my soul belongs to yours.  My heart chose you, my soul chose you and I cannot, will not, find a way to undo that. 

If I was ever terrible to you, if I ever treated you poorly, I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to and I would have never tried to intentionally hurt you.  You were my heart, my soul, my best friend and my family.  You were everything. 

You are everything.

And I've lost that.

I will always be here,

A Chance Meeting

Tick, tock, tick, tock... The steady ticking of the clock echoed over the gentle hum of patrons' conversations.  Clinking of glasses and laughter drifted over to her booth from nearby tables.  The café was busier than usual this time of night.  The booth next to hers was the only available seating and she was thankful it wasn't taken yet.  She only had a few days left to finish the numbers for the centennial.  The last thing she needed was a group of drunken couples sitting next to her, shouting their love to the world.  Star speckled eyes swept the dining room as she lifted her coffee to her lips and took a sip, dark and bitter.  How nice it must be to not have a care in the world.
